Prison Chaplaincy Services in Jamaica: Faith-Based Rehabilitation
Chaplains assigned to each correctional institution in Jamaica play a vital role in the spiritual rehabilitation of offender clients. Through weekly church services, faith-based counselling, and spiritual mentorship, inmates are guided to develop a deeper sense of purpose, inner healing, and moral clarity.
Rooted in core spiritual principles, the prison chaplaincy services support emotional resilience, accountability, and behaviour change.
A significant highlight of 2024 was the November evangelistic crusade, where ten inmates were baptised, marking a profound step in their personal and spiritual transformation.
These services underscore the importance of holistic rehabilitation, which addresses not just the physical and mental, but also the spiritual well-being of inmates on their journey toward reintegration.
