This Division is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all offenders in the custody of the Department. These offenders are housed in seven (7) adult and three (3) juvenile institutions and are classified according to risk levels and sentencing status (convicted or remand). This portfolio is managed by the Deputy Commissioner of Corrections, Custodial Services while the institutions are managed by a Superintendent who is supported by a team of Correctional Officers and other support staff.
The goal of the Division is to provide a safe, secure and rehabilitative environment to empower inmates and wards for re-integration into society as productive citizens in keeping with the Department’s mission and the Ministry of National Security’s strategic policy direction.
All Rehabilitation Programmes in these institutions are implemented by the Superintendents in charge along with varying ranks of uniformed officers and support civilian staff. It is within the institutions that the mission and mandate of the Department are best demonstrated.
