Felicia Dixon, a former inmate of the South Camp Adult Correctional Centre, stands as a true testament to the power of rehabilitation. Convicted of Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent, she was sentenced to seven (7) years but served five (5), from August 2017 to November 2022.
Determined not to let her circumstances define her, Miss Dixon embraced every opportunity for growth while incarcerated. She took full advantage of the educational and vocational resources available, earning seven (7) CSEC subjects and multiple HEART Trust NSTA certifications in various fields. As a Peer Counsellor, she played an active role in motivating and supporting fellow inmates, demonstrating leadership and a commitment to positive change.
Upon her release, she furthered her journey by enrolling in a one-year Practical Nursing course, made possible through the DCS Rehabilitation Grant.
Today, she is gainfully employed and committed to make a positive contribution towards nation building. Miss Dixon expresses her heartfelt gratitude to the DCS for the transformative opportunities provided through its rehabilitation programmes.
